Movie Director Mel Funn (Mel Brooks) and his able assistants Marty Eggs (Marty Feldman), and Dom Bell (Dom DeLuise) set off to make a movie to save Big Picture Studios from being bought out by a New York conglomerate Engulf and Devour. Funn is a recovering alcoholic who has not had much recent luck in the movie business, but he manages to recruit a handful of stars to perform in his movie. As the release day for the movie approaches, his rivals at Engulf and Devour get worried, and plan to put an end to Funn and Big Picture Studios before the movie preview.
