Montoya says that her challenge as an artist is to discover her identity and to articulate the experience of Chicanos in the United States. Her images, often of women and children, come from Hispanic culture. She examines, she says, the icons that express her spiritual, political, emotional, and cultural views of the world.



Montoya afirma que, como artista, su tarea consiste en desvelar su identidad y expresar la experiencia de los chicanos en los Estados Unidos. Sus imágenes, a menudo mujeres y niños, proceden de la cultura hispánica. Asegura que examina los símbolos que expresan sus opiniones espirituales, políticas, emotivas y culturales del mundo.
