Valdez considers her paintings of domestic interiors as self portraits that define a personal, yet universal space. Here objects and patterns swirl furiously in a topsy-turvy room where two chairs float amidst bouncing balls and spilled drinks. "My goal is to keep the paintings alive, to give them a sense of movement," Valdez says. "I want to evoke a feeling that people just left the room."

Valdez considera sus cuadros de interiores domésticos autorretratos que definen un espacio personal y, al mismo tiempo, universal. Aquí, los objetos y los dibujos giran vertiginosamente en una habitación desordenada en la que flotan dos sillas entre pelotas que rebotan y bebidas derramadas. "Mi objetivo es mantener vivo el cuadro, darle un sentido de movimiento", dice Valdez. "Quiero dar la sensación de que la gente acaba de salir de la habitación."
