   Betta
   Siamese Fighting Fish

LATIN NAME:
   Betta splendens

   6.8-7.2

   3 inches / 6 cm.

MINIMUM RECOMMENDED TANK SIZE:
   1 gallon or larger

BREEDING:

FEEDING:
   Betta Pellet Foods, Tubiflex Worms.

NOTE:
They should NOT be kept with any other knife fish, they will fight, especially in smaller tanks. It is best to keep this as a solo species with other medium to large fish in your tank.

LIGHTING:
   Bright, but not direct sunlight.

TEMPERAMENT:
Peaceful, very good community fish, even with smaller fish. Try not to keep with long finned species such as fancy guppies or the male may view this fish as a threat to his territory and attack it.

COMMENTS:
Super for the bowl, or a tank if kept by themselves or only with fish the same size or larger than they are. So many different color varieties and subspecies available, see your local fish store for what they have in stock.

Again, do NOT keep two or more males together ( they are the colorful ones, the females are rather bland and fins are much shorter ) because by morning you will only have one left!

Lately there has been a craze about keeping a Betta in a Vase with a plant ( Peace Lilly ) and it has been reported that the Betta can thrive off of the roots of this plant instead of being fed nutritional foods. This is simple NOT true. Click Here to read my article all about the "Peaceful Pair" craze.
