The distinctive flowing fins is what really attracts hobbyists to this species. They have a variety of colors and banding to really make them stand out in most aquariums. The Congo Tetra is a very hardy fish and can stand a wide range of water conditions making it an ideal fish for those with just a little bit of experience keeping fish. These fish do best in well planted ( plastic or real ) tanks with lots of places to swim in and around. Try to keep these fish in schools of 5 or more. In fact this fish thrives the more members there are in the school. |

An unusual fact about this species as that it has teeth, it generally does not bother any other fish and you would probably have to get a good magnifying glass out to see them, but they are there. |

The only downside to this fish is that the Congo Tetras are one of the more expensive fish within the Tetra line, averaging around $6.50 U.S. per fish, so a good school will run you at least $30.00, if not more. |
