COMMENTS:
The distinctive flowing fins is what really attracts hobbyists to this species. They have a variety of colors and banding to really make them stand out in most aquariums. The Congo Tetra is a very hardy fish and can stand a wide range of water conditions making it an ideal fish for those with just a little bit of experience keeping fish. These fish do best in well planted ( plastic or real ) tanks with lots of places to swim in and around. Try to keep these fish in schools of 5 or more. In fact this fish thrives the more members there are in the school.

An unusual fact about this species as that it has teeth, it generally does not bother any other fish and you would probably have to get a good magnifying glass out to see them, but they are there.

The only downside to this fish is that the Congo Tetras are one of the more expensive fish within the Tetra line, averaging around $6.50 U.S. per fish, so a good school will run you at least $30.00, if not more.
