Goldfish:
LATIN NAME:
   Carassius auratus

pH:
   6.7-7.5

WATER TEMP:
   65-75 deg. F.

AVG. MAX. SIZE:
   8+ inches / 20 cm.

MINIMUM RECOMMENDED TANK SIZE:
Do not place in tanks smaller than 10 gallons per fish, 15+ gallons per fish is preferred.

BREEDING:
   Egg-layers

FEEDING:
   Anything, prefers live foods

NOTE:
Inexpensive, Super for the kids or first time out! Just don't be lulled into the misconception of placing this species in a small bowl, an 5 to 8 inch fish at adulthood does not belong in a bowl.

LIGHTING:
   Bright, but not direct sunlight.

TEMPERAMENT:
Peaceful, However as they grow they will eat just about anything else that swims in the tank.

COMMENTS:
Super for a tank, best if kept by themselves or only with fish larger than they are. So many different varieties and subspecies from the Lion head, Pompon, Telescope, Celestrial or Egg fish. I do not recommend these fish in community tanks due to their carnivorous behaviors.

Many people place these fish in bowls, I cannot condone or encourage that practice since nearly all Goldfish species can get well over 5 " in length. Best kept in tanks 20 gallons or larger.
