COMMENTS:
A varied fish, many different shapes and colors. Easy to breed and do not get very large at all, so ideal for the smaller aquarium. Males are the more colorful with a distinctive tail. Females are larger than the males but very plain in appearance. Very durable fish, but not extremely long lived.

If buying to be bred, select one male for every two or three females, this will ensure a constant inflow of baby fry into your aquarium.

Interesting fact is that the female of the species can actually retain the milt (sperm) from a single encounter with a male, thusly producing broods of fry many times over, this amazing ability is the explanation behind so many immaculate conceptions when these fish are first brought home from the store.
