A varied fish, many different shapes and colors. Easy to breed and do not get very large at all, so ideal for the smaller aquarium. Males are the more colorful with a distinctive tail. Females are larger than the males but very plain in appearance. Very durable fish, but not extremely long lived. |

If buying to be bred, select one male for every two or three females, this will ensure a constant inflow of baby fry into your aquarium. |

Interesting fact is that the female of the species can actually retain the milt (sperm) from a single encounter with a male, thusly producing broods of fry many times over, this amazing ability is the explanation behind so many immaculate conceptions when these fish are first brought home from the store. |
