Chapter 13: Woman In Me
When Nick woke up, it was about 12:00 in the afternoon!
Can you believe it? He got dressed, and decided it was time for
me to wake up.
“Hey, Ash, wake up.” he said ever so gently.
I fluttered my eyelashes to see a beautiful smile in front of me.
“Hi, Nick.” I said sleepily.
“Hey I figured it was time for you to get up!” Nick said sitting down next to me.
“I wanna tell you, thanks for the reality check.” I replied.
“No problem, that’s what friends are for.” Nick said resting his hand on my knee.
“Yeah,” I whispered. We looked at eachother, and our faces drew nearer and nearer. I got up suddenly.
“So, Nick, where are your dogs?” I asked changing the subject.
“Mickey, Willie, Nicky, Houston.. come here sweeties..” I replied. In return for cheerful happy dogs came at my feet.
“Oh you’re such cute dogs!” I replied playfully kissing Houston. I could feel Nick’s eyes on me. I turned around, and there they were.
“Are you jealous, of me and Houston’s affection’s Nicky?” I said in feigned shock.
“Me, jealous?” Nick said in an exasperated tone.
“Not, Nick.” he said taking a seat on the rug where, I've been playing with Houston.
“Good,” I replied.
“What time is it?” I asked him.
“About 1:00,” he replied giving me another smile.
“Damn, we slept a long time.” I said shocked.
“Yeah, I know, I usually don’t sleep that late!” Nick exclaimed.
“Come on, we better go...” I replied to him.
“Yeah, but not before we go to the pool..” Nick said standing up.
“I don’t have a bathing suit,” I replied.
“Don’t worry, BJ had an extra one she had bought about a couple of weeks, ago. She hasn’t worn it. You guys are about the same size.” Nick said sizing me up.
“Okay, well.. I’ll go get dressed,” I said walking up the stairs. Since, I had become a bit familiar with the house, I knew where the bathing suit was.

“So, Jules, when can I see you again?” Nate replied.
Julie was combing around and she found some pictures of her and Nick inside her purse. She pulled them out and smiled. She had to be honest with herself and Nate.
“Nate, I still love him, and there’s nothing I can do to change that.” Julie replied.
“Oh,” Nate said looking rather crushed.
“I’m so sorry,” Julie said standing up.
“Yeah, well. I knew I couldn’t have you for long. But I was hoping it would be longer than a couple of hours.” Nate replied.
He got up kissed Julie and proceeded to get into his car. She walked him to the car.
“Goodbye Jules,” Nate said. “Bye Nate,” Julie replied.
She got into her car, and went to go find her boyfriend.

I came out, in the rather skimpy bating suit, and waited for Nick to notice.
“Ahem,” I said rather playfully.
“Wow, Ashley you look great,” Nick said taking a gulp.
“You really think so?” I asked him walking toward the pool.
“Yeah, I do,” Nick said smiling.
“Well, are we gonna get in the water, or bake in the Florida sun,” I asked him. I jumped in the water and pulled Nick with me.
“Am I interrupting something?” Julie asked rather smugly.
“Jules!” Nick replied rather suddenly.
“Uh, No. Not at all,” Nick replied.
“Did she stay here?” Julie asked looking at me.
“Julie, why are you acting this way? You know, me and Nick have nothing but a good friendship...” I shot back to her.
“Is that so?” Julie said narrowing her eyes.
“Yeah, it is. I see I’ve worn out my welcome, I’ll leave.” I said getting out of the pool, grabbed my clothes and backpack, and called a taxi to come and get me.
“Ashley, wait, I didn’t mean that,” Julie yelled back to me.
“Well, I am just being a friend to Nick, which is more than I can say for you... where’s Nate by the way?” I asked her.
“Gone. He left. I knew I loved Nick,” Julie said her eyes misty.
“Whose Nate?” Nick asked getting rather mad. I looked back at Julie and we both said nothing.
