Chapter 6

Kevin slowly opened his eyes the next morning. He sat up quickly and woke Jaime up.

"Come on. The doctor told us he would tell us today. Let's go."

Jaime and Kevin walked over to the doctor's office. They knocked lightly and the doctor told them to come in. He immediately smiled at them.

"I have to say I am strongly attached to this. Both professionally and emotionally."

"I want to thank you for that. You have been great throughout this whole thing. Right now, I just want to know how she is doing."

"Well Mr. Richardson, I am very happy to tell you that."

"Well.."

"She's in remission. There is no cancer to be found anywhere in her body." Jaime jumped out of her seat and ran out.
"Does she ever stop running?" the doctor asked

"No sir, she doesn't. Thank you so much. When can she go home?"

"Tomorrow if all her energy is back." Kevin reached over shook the doctors hand and thanked him once again. He walked out into the hall and Jaime was waiting outside the door.

"I got out here and realized that you had to be there when every one found out. It wouldn't be right." Kevin leaned over and kissed her on her lips.

"I love you." He whispered. She leaned towards his ear

"I love you too." They began to hug.

"Thank god this is over." She said

"I told you my dad was watching her. I knew it when it started raining during the operation."

"I never doubted it. I am just so glad she's ok." Kevin and Jaime began to walk towards the room. Suddenly there walking turned into running, which turned into a race. Kevin won and ran in the door. Actually he ran into the door. That got a few laughs.

"What the hell? Why are you two running?" AJ said.

"Well, this past year has been hell for us all AJ." Kevin said

"Yeah, but what is going on? Did you talk to the doctor." Brian said

"Yup." Kevin simply said

"Well.come on Kevin don't keep us waiting." Nick said out of no where. He hadn't even been there. He just appeared at the door. Kevin walked over to him and gave him a hug.

"First, I want to thank you Nick. With out you, Skye might not be here today and." Kevin paused

"Come on, I can hardly contain myself" Brian spouted

"Sounds like a personal problem to me" AJ said

"As I was saying, Skye wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Nick and she wouldn't be in remission. Which means she wouldn't be going home tomorrow, but she is."

"No cancer Kevin? None?" Nick said stunned.

"None at all. Hopefully it stays that way." Skye slowly began to wake up.

"Why is everyone being so loud?" She said sleepily.

"Cause we are so happy." Jaime said

"Why mommy?"

"You get to go home tomorrow. You're all better. For now."

"No. For good." Kevin added.

"I miss my hair Nick." Skye said as she got ready to go home.

"I know, but look what I brought you from home." Nick reached into his bag and pulled out a brand new Dodger's baseball hat.

"But I like Orioles. Brady Anderson is cute."

"I was in California. The O's are in Baltimore."

"Ok. Can we leave now?"

"Man your impatient. I guess you are back to normal. Your dad is on his way up." Just then Kevin walked in.

"Let's go home. We got a lot of celebrating to do."

"Why?" Skye asked.

"Well your finally coming home and it's your birthday."

"Oh yeah. Can we have a party?"

"Of course. Anything for you."

As the three of them walked out of the building Kevin looked back at the hospital.

"What are you looking at?" Jaime said walking up to him.

"Nothing. Just saying good bye."

"But what if.."

"My dad is watching. Remember that."

They turned and walked away. Kevin was right. The only time they came back was to be told that Skye was fine and that the cancer would probably never come back.
