Chapter 11
Nicole sat there in stunned
silence for a few minutes before breaking down into hysterical
cries. Amanda just sat there and waited for her to finish.
When Nicole's sobs finally stopped, Amanda calmy asked, "What are you going to do now? Call them? They'd be in a rehersal by now."
Nicole looked up, totally forgetting about Nick.
"I can't call them now!!What'll I say? I can't let Nick know now, he'll cancel the show. Tomorrow is his day off, I'll call them as soon as I get up. I'm not calling Nick though. I just can't. I'll call AJ."
"Fine. I'll make a doctor's appointement right now to verify." Amanda hugged Nicole and brought her downstairs to the kitchen, where she made an appointement for that afternoon, then made Nicole breakfast.
****later that day, at the doc's.****
Amanda and Nicole sat quietly in the doctors office awaiting the results. Nicole still couldn't believe she'd been dumb enough to forget about condoms. Finally after what felt like an eternity, the doctor glided into the room with a metal clipboard in one hand while his other hand was shoving a pen into his breast pocket.
He closed the door and started. "Well Nicole, here are the results of your test, and the verdict is, yes, you are pregnant."
He looked up and smiled at the last remark. Nicole sighed deeply and let the news sink in. Pregnant. Her. At 19 years old. Nicole's life had changed and would never be the same.
Amanda thanked the doctor and took Nicole home, where she cried until she fell asleep. Nicole awoke to the feel of the hot sun beating on her face. She shielded her eyes and looked at the clock on the table. It read 6:48.
Might as well get this over with now. Nicole thought dragging herself out of bed and down the stairs to the kitchen. There she dialed AJ's cell number. With the time difference it would be almost noon.
It rang three times and on the third ring she heard a somewhat bored AJ mumble,"hello?"
"Hey AJ, what's up?" Nicole tried to sound perky.
"Oh hey Nicole!!!! Um, well the guys'll be here any second to decide what we'll do today.What about you?"
Nicole took a deep breath and told him. "Well...um...I'm pregnant."
She flinched, not knowing how he would take it. "Oh wow!!!That's awsome!! Who though?"
At that point Nicole heard muffled hey's in the backround. Nicole was relieved when AJ just waved them off, wanting to hear the answer.
"Well....It's Nick's." Nicole could practically feel AJ boil up as he dropped the phone and turned to Nick.
****AJ's hotel room****
"NICK?!?! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!?!"AJ screamed.
Everyone in the little kitchen turned to look at AJ who was staring at Nick with fire in his eyes. Nick looked at AJ as he got a glass out.
"What's wrong man?" Nick casually asked.
"NICOLE'S PREGNANT!!!! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!?!?!?"
Nick dropped the glass he had and it shattered on the ceramic tile.
"Oh shit." Nick mumbled as he ran over to where AJ was.
The others were totally going bonkers wanting to know what happened. Howie started cleaning up the glass while AJ now quietly went over to inform them.
Nick grabbed the phone off the bed. "Hello? Nicole? What's wrong? You're pregnant? Are you sure it's mine?"
All these questions suddenly flew into Nicole's ear at once.
She laughed a little. "Hi Nick.Yeah, I'm pregnant, and yeah, it's your's."
Nicole and Nick talked a few more minutes, while the guys stood in total shock.
