Chapter 6

It was about 9:00 p.m. now.  Brian had just waken up.

"I was afraid that you were never gonna wake up!  Your surgery lasted 11 hours but you've been asleep for about another 6 hours. You take to anesthesia well! I didn't give you as much as I would have if I had know the surgery would have taken that long.  I kept thinking that you were going to wake up in the middle of surgery.  Thank god you never did!" Dr. Allofyour was in Brian's room sitting by his bed.

"My chest hurts really bad!"

"Yeah, it probably will for a couple days, but we'll give you something for that. Well you'll be glad to know that we did an extra excellent job."

"That's good. Where's my dad and my brother and how is my mom doing?" Brian said, still trying to wake up.

"Your father and brother are in the waiting room.  Would you like to see them?" Dr. Allofyour said, trying to change the subject off of Jackie.

"Later.  So how is my mom doing?  Has she woke up yet?" Brian said, not aware of the news that lies ahead.

"Well, there was some difficulties with your mom.  I had to leave the last part of your surgery because of it. Brian, what I'm trying to say is that your mother passed away at 11:47 this morning.  She started having seizures again, only this time more severe. She stopped breathing and then her heart stopped. We tried our hardest, but we could not revive her.  I'm very sorry about your loss." Dr. Allofyour left the room then, not wanting to see or hear Brian's reaction.

"NOOOOOOOOOO!  YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!  I WANTED TO TELL HER SO MUCH STUFF, I WANTED TO TELL HER THAT I LOVED HER, THAT I LOVED HER FOR ALL THE STUFF SHE'S DONE FOR ME!" Brian yelled, making sure that everyone heard, especially Dr. Allofyour.

Brian then realized what he was doing. He stopped and took a deep breath. Then he crossed his hands and prayed.

Dear God, I just want to thank you for everything that you have done for me, and for helping me through my surgery.  I just want to pray to you that you will take very good care of my mom. She deserves the best, and I'm sure you know that.

And Mom if your listening,I just have to tell you something. First I have to tell you that I'm going to miss you very, very much!  I really have to tell you, what I've been wanting to tell you for awhile.  What I'm trying to say is that, Mom, I love you.

THE END
