Chapter 5
Katherine cocked her neck to take a good look at the guy that was
holding onto her waist as they danced.
"Cute.." she thought to herself with a scandolous smile forming across her face.
Nick watched as a smile peered itself from her seductive expression. He truely was overwhelmed by her attractiveness and barely succeeded to keep his hands in the appropriate places.
The mellow music stopped and Katherine motioned him to the bar. Nick caught notice and nodded his head silently in agreement. As they walked..hand in hand....the club seemed to fuzz into a blurry picture..leaving Nick in a whirling daze.
Katherine sensed his dreariness and turned to see Nick half-slouching. Using her better judgement...Katherine did as best as she could to guide his 6'2 frame to the nearest booth.
"Are you ok?" she asked while running her rather cold hands over his forehead. Nick jumped at the coldness of her hands and unsucessfully tried to meet her concerned gaze.
"Nick?".....her voice echoed in his mind faintly over and over in a casual pattern. Katherine sighed in fustration and called a waitress over.
"Could you get me some Tylenol with water and a damp towel?" she ordered..not losing grip of Nick's shoulders. The waitress examined the situation before her and grinned..
"A first timer huh?" she sneered quietly while making her way back to the bar to retrieve what she was told to get. Katherine heard her comment and rolled her eyes out of irritation. Sometimes having over-sensitive senses can get to you.
" Maybe you should take this off.." Katherine said more to herself than Nick while peeling off the overcoat that he had on. Sweat and prespiration seeped through his dress baby blue dress shirt.
"Ok..don't faint on me.." Katherine suggested while gently slapping Nick's cheek to keep him concious.
"What the hell is taking her so long?" Katherine groaned while standing up slightly to search for the waitress. After a couple of eternal minutes..the sassy waitress made her way over with the needed things.
"Here ya go.." she said crispyly while setting down the medecine bottle with a cold glass of water. Katherine smiled weakly in appreciation and looked around at the contents laid down on the booth's round table.
"Where's the damp towel?" she asked while looking up at the waitress. She didn't move....she just kept staring at the lifeless and limp Nick. Katherine read her thoughts and grunted angrily.
"He's not for feeding.." she growled harshly.
The waitress looked down at Katherine startled and surprised. Sensing that Katherine would be ready to defend the young man..the waitress hung her head low and returned to get the damp towel.
"Stupid bitch..." Katherine muttered.
"Who's a stupid bitch?..." a weak voice uttered.
She looked down swiftly and saw Nick turning slowly to look at her with drunkiness drowning in his every move. Katherine smiled and shook her head silently..
"Nobody.." she answered. "Are you ok now?"
Nick nodded slowly... I guess...but I have a really huge ass headache." he moaned while rubbing his eyes.
"I kinda knew you would have that..so.." Katherine started while grabbing the bottle of pills..
"I gotcha these. Take two." she said while handing him the small container.
Nick took it and did as he was told. She watched him as he attempted to swallow the two pills.
"I guess you wouldn't ordering as many Pina Coladas huh?" Katherine teased him while shifting to a comfortable position in the booth.
He looked over to her drowsily but managed to crack a smile at her truthful comment.

Out into the main core of the club..people were everywhere. Some with intentions that were too vulgar to verbally mention. Salasia sensed the hypeness off the club automatically as she set her first step into the club.
"It's really wild in here!!" she heard A.J exclaim behind her.
She smiled and gave their interwined hands a quick squeeze. A.J felt the little pressure that suddenly arose and smiled down at their hands. His were so masculine and big compared to hers.
"Let's find a table.." Salasia said slightly turning behind her, definite that she can be heard.
He nodded as her suggestion finally reached his ears among all the noise and screams in th crowd they were fighting through. Peering above moving bodies...Salasia finally found a near by table.
"Hi Kath!" Salasia greeted cheerfully..."What's wrong with your friend?"
A.J peered over her shoulder and caught glimpse of his younger friend.
"Yo Frack...you alright man?" he asked curiously while noticing his friend's slouching and pained face.
"Yeah...I'm alright..." Nick moaned in response.
"You two know each other?" Salasia asked suddenly.
"Yup..Nick here is my....uh...my....workmate." A.J stammered in response. He didn't want her to know...not yet anyways.
"Oh..that's nice...well..A.J..this is my good friend Katherine. Kath..this is...my..boyfriend, A.J." Salasia said with a smile. Katherine smiled politely and shook A.J's hand.
"It's nice to meet you..A.J" Katherine said while throwing Salasia a curious glance.
"Likewise.." he replied.
The standing couple took a seat across from the seated one and chatted amongst themselves. Still..Katherine sat and looked A.J up and down. Was he a vampire? He somewhat dressed like one in some ways. He had vampire features to a certain point. Letting her curiousity get to her..Katherine decided to find out.
"Salasia?..Could I please have a word with you..in private?" she asked. Salasia looked away from A.J and smiled..
"Sure..." she answered..
"I'll be right back.." Salasia notified A.J and he nodded. Salasia waited until Katherine was seated and waited for her to start.
"This A.J guy that you're all of a sudden with....he is one of us...isn't he?" Katherine pried. Salasia grimaced at the question she knew she was brought to answer..
"No..he's not. He's mortal." she said without tone.
"Oh...well..I'm guessing he doesn't know." Katherine suggested.
"Of course not. Do you think he would want to associate with a vampire?" Salasia laughed.
"Oh come now Salasia...you make us sound so horrible." Katherine groaned.
"Well..it is true..after all..we do feed on their kind to survive. I'd think he would be somewhat worried to be around me or any of us for that matter. Speaking of us..where is everyone else?" Salasia asked suddenly while glancing around the room.
"Umm.. I think I saw Talandra chatting with a guy at the bar and Milla dancing with that tall, handsome stranger. I'm not quite sure where Sara is though." Katherine responded.
"Hmm..glad they're having a good time. " Salasia smiled in return.
"I knew that was why you brought here. It's common that we vamps date or befriend those of the different kind. Besides..I've noticed you've taken a liking to this Nick fellow. " she added. Katherine giggled softly..
"I guess..he is adorable in his own right. Sweet too.." Katherine trailed off.
"I knew it!! HaHa..anyways..we should get back to the table before someone thinks the boys are for dinner.." Salasia laughed.
Katherine turned to her long time friend and playfully gasped..
"Now that was not funny..it was ironic..but definitely not funny. What if that does happen?" she asked.
"I dunno...hopefully it won't." Salasia pandered.
