Mission Statement
- We are orthodox Muslims - therefore we are committed
to Islam and believe that the Sunnah and the Shari'ah
mould our lives;
- We are British - we hold that, as the British are a mixture of races owing allegiance to the Crown, being British is not an
ethnic but a cultural orientation and committment with
concommittant duties, responsibilities, rights and
privileges, and does not in any significant way necessarily
conflict with being a Muslim, and further that being
British in this way will of its very nature include
people of immigrant origin;
- We are committed to the dissemination of the knowledge
and practice of Islam among the population of the British
Isles;
- We aim to demonstrate real Islam, free from cultural
accretions of the past and of foreign cultures, showing
that Islam is not 'alien' to the British way-of-life;
- We are an independent body dedicated to focusing British
Muslims on those Basics of Islam which come before
any sectarian involvements and affiliations;
- We are not identified with the programmes of any political
organisation (Islamic or otherwise);
- We aim to provide an 'umbrella' facility where all British
Muslims can carry out their lawful activities - in
the sense of the many 'interfaith' organisations, we
are an 'intergroup' body;
