"Two Cowboys Melvin and Ralph"
Two cowboys thought they would take a ride
They tried to catch the horse by walking up to its side
The horse turns and quickly runs away
Melvin
said, "What we need is some fresh hay."
The cowboys (Melvin and Ralph) poured some feed upon the
ground
Again they tried to catch the horse but it turn around
They tried again as the horse took
a drink
Again, they failed as their hopes began to sink
Ralph said. "I bet we can catch
the horse, I think I know how"
"We will catch this horse like Leon catches the cow"
So in the
barn they went and open the stanchion wide
Melvin went and got some food and led the horse inside
Then they took the food, put it on the other side of the stanchion planks
"This is going to work
better than all the rest of our pranks"
When the horse came looked and stuck his head in
Melvin
and Ralph closed the stanchion and dropped in the pin
Caught by its head and neck, the horse is
held tight
It was with its feet and hoofs that it begin to fight
First, it kicked the back wall
of the barn down
Moreover, with its front feet it started pawing at the ground
"This isn't
going to work" " We got to let him out"
"Daddy's going to kill me" Melvin started to pout
Ralph
tried to remove the pin so he could open the stanchion wide
He could not get it out! Melvin went to
hide
Leon hearing the noise and wondering what was up now
Ran to the barn where he kept the
cow
Seeing a horse standing where a cow should be
He went to work trying to set old Midget free
He got the horse out, but the stanchion was all broken
Then he laid into the boys and they knew
he wasn't joke'n
That was a day, Melvin and Ralph have never forgotten
Their life as a cowboy
sure was rotten!!

Ralph is a brother-in-law to Leon.Melvin is Leon's son . When school was out during the summer, the
farm became home to his wife Lois's younger brother and sisters.
