Agent Pendrell

Agent Pendrell was a FBI lab technician, always eager to help Scully out. He was shot in Tempus Fugit and died in Max.

The character certainly went through some trials and tribulations getting onto the screen.

Pendrell was originally intended to be Agent Kautz, a character who had previously appeared in "Anasazi." However the actor Paul McLean, was unavailable for shooting so the part had to be recast.

In "Nisei," Pendrell was actually named Agent Comox, but this name was not spoken out loud by Scully - just mentioned in scripts. [Trivia: both "Pendrell" and "Comox" are British Columbia sites.] "Pendrell" won out because another actor Paul McGillion was originally intended to play Comox but was also unavailable for filming.

In the official "Avatar" cast list a character known as Dr. Rick Newton is shown and there is no Pendrell. Yet, it is Beiser who makes the appearance.

Pendrell was originally supposed to be in "Terma," but he was replaced with another agent. Still, many X-Files cast lists, including the one at the official site, have Pendrell listed.

From Max:
Mulder : You thinking about Pendrell?
Scully : I realized I didn't even know his first name.
There has been quite a bit of conjecture on Agent Pendrell's first name and as can be seen from the above quote, not even Scully knew! According to The Official Guide to The X-Files: I Want to Believe his name is Sean. According to the X-Files Collectible Card Game it's Danny. The Official Strategy Guide to the X-Files CD-ROM Game contradicts the CCG by listing his name as Sean. Brendan Beiser however believes that Pendrell's first name is Peter!
