SOUL ASYLUM at Edgefest V 98edgefest.jpg (36084 bytes)

I'm getting a bit to all for the large festival/parties, but I HAD toedgefest_Bio.jpg (27729 bytes)
see Soul Asylum with their new drummer and keyboard player. The weather was great, except for the day of the show. The morning started out raining and then downpouring. The weather managed to clear a bit and warm up from the 50 degree morning temps. My friend Jason, Blain, and I were looking forward to see a couple of the bands. We put on our t-shirts and shorts and headed for the muddy concert area. As out luck
would be, the clouds rolled in again and the temps dropped down in the 50's shortly after we entered. Even worse, there was no-readmittance so we had to just put up with the weather. We enjoyed the Specials, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sister Hazel and the Ben Folds Five. Soul Asylum did a mini-interview that was broadcast on the big screen TV
before the show band introduced the "new" members and sacastically
thanked Zone 105.

The banded played a great set:

I Will Still Be Laughing
See You Later
Somebody To Shove
Black Gold
Close
Blood Into Wine
Misery
No Time For Waiting
Cradle Chain
November
Just Like Anyone
Candy From A Stranger

Of course, we were looking forward to hearing "Losin' It" and "Draggin"
The Lake" but due to a schedule 45 minute set, we did not hear either.
The band sounded great. Ian did a great job on drums, but I felt the
band was not as tight as they could be yet and the songs seemed a little
"stiff". The soundman did a great job for an outdoor concert. After
the set, we ran back to our camp site to warm up, eat and listen to
"Losin' it" and "Draggin' The Lake". I need a SA fix again soon.
Hopefully a SOLO show!
