Sony Unveils 4k Digital Cinema Projector |
Sony expanded its 4K Silicon X-tal Reflective Display (SXRD) digital
cinema technologies with an 18,000-lumen projector at ShowEast this week. |
The SRX-R220 model was successfully demonstrated as a prototype earlier
in the year during 4K screening of "The Da Vinci Code," and will begin shipping
early next year. The projector is designed for digital projection in a commercial
movie theater and can display 2K and 4K content on screens 55 feet or larger.
Designed to be compliant with the Digital Cinema Initiative specifications
for digital motion picture projection, the projector housing is also designed
to meet FIPS 140/2 security requirements. The housing also features built-in
rack space for Sony's LMT-100 4K Media Block and attached Redundant Array
of Independent Desk storage unit, or for a compatible server from another
manufacturer. |

The company said it is supporting its digital cinema systems with flexible
maintenance plans, like Sony's CineWatch remote monitoring and diagnostics
service to offer customer support and maximize operational efficiency. |

The SRX-R220 features the same auto zoom and auto focus functions of
the SRX-R110 and SRX-R105, and uses the same lenses as well. Other features
of the SRX-R220 include color management software, automated zoom lens position
for multiple-format screen fills, image masking with a range for a 10-degree
down angle and single-button power for both projector and server operations. |
