I'm glad that you've found our site. I thought you might like to know a little about me and why I went to the trouble of doing this site.

First, you might know me as the "refrigeration man." I have been doing boat refrigeration for the last 17 years. I have written two books on refrigeration the Do-it-Yourself Boat Refrigeration manual and the 12&24 -volt Refrigeration Manual. I also have a web site with information on boat refrigeration at http://www.kollmann-marine.com

I meet many boaters through refrigeration and many are seasoned cruisers and even some have made circumnavigations, but I also meet those who just haven't gotten up the courage to venture out on their own. When our sailing club asked me to present a talk on "Cruising for the Neophytes", Boots, my first mate, mentioned that it might be a good idea to put the information I was gathering into a web site so that it could be made available to more people. Since she's the web master and computer Guru of the family, I figured she would be doing most of the work so I said, "Why not!" I thought that it would consist of maybe one or two pages but we kept thinking of items that needed to be included and it just kept growing. We had fun doing the site and we hope that you'll not only find it helpful but enjoyable as well.

I hope that you find all the information and encouragement that you need to take that first BIG cruise. As Boots says sailing is Agony and Ecstasy but like childbirth the agony is soon forgotten when you see that first white beach and blue-green water of the Bahamas and you  can look back at the Gulf Stream and exclaim with a sense of accomplishment, "My God, I crossed that!"

If you have any questions that I haven't covered just email me and I'll answer it.

NOTE: I enjoyed reading the comments from everyone on the guestbook but spammers have made it impossible to maintain a guestbook or a forum. So I have had to remove both.

And remember:

We cannot control the strength or the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails to meet the challenges in our life
