At 4:30 AM on June 7th 2001, four HISC boats sailed (O.K. motored)  out of  Hilsboro Inlet. This was the beginning of a two week cruise to the Abacos, Bahamas. The intrepid sailors were, Mark & Sally on Wind Dancer their Morgan 41 Ketch; Tom & Donna on Adieu a Krogen 38; Beth & Jack on  on their 42 Hylas, Cracker Jack andDick & Boots on their 32 Watkins, Loreli.

After 11 hours of beating to a head wind, now this isn't pleasant but at least there were no storms, they arrived unscathed at West End. Those of you who haven't been there in the last couple of years will be in for a pleasant surprise as the old Jack Tar marina has been revamped and is now called "Old Bahamas Bay." After clearing customs, everyone freshened up and went to the bar where complimentary drinks and snacks are served on Wednesday evenings and happily that was a Wednesday!  Unfortunately, the flies and no see'ums are still there ready to welcome you. Bug spray and screens are definitely a necessity.

The group left early the next morning to join Bob and Joyce on their Morgan OI 33, Diversion and Bob and Shirley on Harmony, their Watkins 36. They had left Florida a couple of days earlier and were waiting for the rest of the group at Great Sale.

Since Cracker Jack has a 5-1/2 ft draw they decided to go to Great Sale by way of Memory Rock and Loreli, who had been there before, went with them to lead the way. Adieu & Wind Dancer decided to go straight across the bank. Unfortunately, Adieu broke a belt and had to be towed by Wind Dancer.
