When I was in Holland in May 1998, I visited Gert-Jan Veenstra in Sneek, in the province of Friesland. I had admired his paintings from his Homepage and I was looking forward to meeting him in person. My American friend, who came with me, bought a beautiful oilpainting from him, depicting the tranquil Friesian landscape. Gert-Jan sometimes just goes into the meadow next to his house and paints the landscape right from there, but mostly travels all over Holland to find interesting places to paint.

Gert-Jan Veenstra paints in the traditional style of the old Dutch masters. He paints landscapes and cityscapes that were there before us and , hopefully, will still be there for a long time to come.
