Tom Brown/Glenn A McMillan Letter - dated 8 January 1945:
Story for Sgt. Tom Brown- Co F 405th Reg 102 Div.
Tom Brown became the Sgt. For Co. Hdqrtrs in early May - 1944 and Tom was from an ASTP unit at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. PFC Ed Souder was his assistant in the Co. F and was his wire and radio man up until the end of November 1944 when Souder was wounded. The following material is taken from a set of letters sent by Brown to Souder while Souder was in the hospital in England.
"Friday Jan. 8, 1945 Hows you doing? So youre finally in Merrie old England - seems you always wanted to go there but not in your present condition. Yes I did have a pass back to Paris and while there I met my old Brother and we had a H &emdash; of a time over a bottle of champaign and 30 hours of storys and came back to the unit in a badly bent up condition.
Jack (Hairless) and Golden Boy Evanson say to give you their regards and Jack is going to write today - (He never did).
Everything here is about the same - Weve moved around some and as I write this we are in the town we were in (before the last one you were in)-Remember Thanksgiving??? (here he is refering to Beeck, Germany) and so I must close as darkness is soon here - Be good and know I am thinking of you - Your PAL -" Dugan"
Enclosed is a letter from Glenn McMillan who became the wire radio man after Souder left -
Guess you will be supprised to hear from me - Hope you are making a fast recovery - as for me - Im running wire for Dugan and working the Radio.- and since Tom doesnt have any complaints - I guess Ill stay in that spot now.
We got a new C.O. His name is Evanson - Was a Lt. But now is our Captain. Old Pittman is gone and our top Sgt. Is Matushevski - We call him "Dottie". Want this letter to go with the one from Duggan so will close - write when you can.
