Yusuke Urameshi is a 14 year old junior high student, not the best of the bunch.
He's a really good fighter, which earns him his reputation of being the toughest kid
in all of town. The story begins when Yusuke rescues a small boy from being hit by
a car, only to be hit and killed himself. He then becomes detective of the Spirit World
with the help of Botan, his assitant.
Hiei is a fire apparition, who
was thrown off the island where he was born because he was born male. He a master of the
sword, and has great strength and speed. He also posses a Jagan, a third eye that has magic
qualities. Hiei has his own unique code of honor that allows Yusuke and he to be allies.
His name is Yoko Kurama, a 400 + old
fox demon. In his old life he used to be a master theif, but was caught one day and wounded.
To gather back up strength, Kurama decided to hide in a woman's unborn child for 10 years.
15 years has passed and kurama is still in human form, caring for his mother. Kurama has a
calm exterior, which hides his ruthless warrior spirit, incredible strength and wisdom. He
is a formible opponent in battle.
Kuwabara is also 14 year old
junior high student. He is Yusuke's rival for fighting, and is pretty good. He is the comic
relief in the stories, with an affection for kittens! He also has a close link
to the spirit world, being almost psychic or something of that nature. He helps Yusuke
on many of missions for Spirit World. He has also fallen in lovw with Yukina, an ice
apparition and Hiei's younger sister.
