Lesson

 

Inform the student that we are having a contest to see which group can get to 153 points. There is going to be 10 elements in the contest. Points will be given in the following levels: 20, 16, 12, 8, 4, 2. (If there is less then six groups, take the points from the lower tier.) In case of a tie, grant the higher level of points.

 

First Contest: Bibles

The first contest is Bible Bringing. Get a count of Bibles and award points.

 

Second Contest: Plush Toy Grouping

The second contest is Plush Toy grouping. Note, it is the first group that gets the highest points, if a group merely repeats the previous group; the previous group (if correct) will get the higher points.

 

Third Contest: Questions

Hand out Questions and have the students, in groups, work on them. The answers are

How Many times did Joshua march around Jericho? 13

How many Wise Men (or Magi) visited Jesus at the Manger? 0, the number of Wise Men is not stated; but, the Bible has the Wise Men visiting Jesus at a house, not a manger.

How many of each animal did Noah take on the ark? 7 clean, 2 unclean.

Number of days Earth was created in. 1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

 

 

Fourth Contest: Resurrection Sorting

Students will sort Resurrection cards into the proper order. Give the Following clues to the students:

Starting Point, Jesus is Resurrected

Ending point, The Ascension

Women were first to the Tomb

Jesus appeared to the one woman first then the others.

Jesus appeared to two disciples before showing himself to the main disciples.

 

 

Fifth Contest: Map

Place positional numbers on the board. Inform the student that we will be doing a group sword drill in the New Testament. Do group swords drill of Luke 24:13. Have students, in groups, work at locating the city on their maps and then post a marker on the main map.


Sixth Contest: Maze

Hand out maze. The disciples were finding their way to Emmus, help them find their way.

Seventh Contest: Old Testament Sorting

The students, in groups, will sort the Old Testament cards.

 

Eighth Contest: New Testament Sorting

The students, in groups, will sort the New Testament cards.

 

Ninth Contest: He Is

Hand out work sheets. Students will listen to the song, “He Is” by Aaron Jeffery and Try to Match what Jesus Christ imaging to each book.

Tenth Contest: Sword Drill John 21:11

The 153 fish caught is symbolic of going out to the entire world (153 represented the world.) Show how we are to become fisher of men.
