Lesson Title: What is Communion?

Objectives: The students will learn:

1.      Learn how the Jewish Passover is connected to Communion

2.      Learn what Jesus did for us.

Setup

Put Plush toys in habitat order (Farm animals, Asian Animals, North America and South America.) We removed dogs and cats because they would overwhelm the grouping.

Lesson

Review Plush toys grouping

The reason is today we are going to talk about celebration in groups.

COA – Is Communion Unique to Christianity?

No - There are similar rites in other Religion.

Review Passover

• Talk about conditions in Egypt.
• Find out whom in class was first born – Inform them that they would have died in Egypt if they didn’t celebrate Passover.
• Review Passover and Rules

Review Last Supper

• Talk about conditions in Israel.
• Talk about the culture
• Review how the Last Supper was a Passover celebration.
• Talk about how Judas left the table before the cup of redemption and the Passover lamb.

Review Communion

• Review a Communion Service.
• Show the symbols of the elements.

How are Communion and Passover Similar / Different?

In groups, have students list how Passover and Communion is similar and Different

How does Communion look to the future?
