Lesson Title: Why Do We Have Church?

Objectives: The students will learn:

1. Identify the three fold purpose of the Church
2. Choose to participate in worship, learning and witnessing.

Memory Verse: Mark 16:15

Supplies

• Picture of Church from http://www.benjerry.com/fun/ne-village.html. Make into chart drawing and make 20 copies. I will include a guide on how to do this at a future time.
• Cut out picture of Church from http://www.benjerry.com/fun/village/church.gif Make 20 copies on card stock
• Copy of Roman Road on 3x5 cards One Point on Each Card, four copies total, (Use different colors to help keep them separate.) See Handout 1.2 for list

Setup

• Divide plush toys into those with claws

Opening: (10 Minutes)

Rules

Lesson Introduction:

Review Plush toys grouping (10 Minutes)

The group with claws have built in defenses, Christian have built in defenses, the Holy Spirit.

            While in the Navy, I was a member of C.L.A.W. Chaplain Lay Assistant Watch. CLAW is a group of people who help the Chaplain (Pastor) with duties and paperwork.

Lesson

Why Do We Have Church?

To Worship – Group Sword Drill - Psalms 95:1- 6

            This is time to honor God and to build each other up.

To Learn - Group Sword Drill –       Ephesians 4:11-16

            If the animals didn’t know how to use their claws, would they be able defend themselves?

To Witness – Group Sword Drill – Mark 16:15-16

Acts 1:8

            After supporting each other and learning about God, it is our duty to share the love of God with the world.

Romans Road

In groups, the students will be given a set of Romans Road cards. Then the students will place the cards into the correct order. Note - The order listed is only one way of listing the verses, let the students justify their position.

Review the Roman's Road to Salvation and present an invidation to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
