Wear Green!
Send home a notice and ask parents to dress the
kids all in green! Supply green face paint and let the kids create!
The "Science" of Art!
Place a palm size dollop of shaving cream into the ziploc bag; add a few drops of blue and yellow food coloring. Zip up the bag, removing all the air you can before sealing. The kids can "knead" the bag to mix the colors - yellow and blue make Green!
Spotted Animals
Draw or copy an outline of an animal (from a
coloring book) on yellow construction paper. With "blue" bingo dabbers,
ask them to put "spots" on the animals! Magic! The spots turn
GREEN!
Thumb Print Grapes
Draw or copy a bunch of grapes (stems only
- minus the grapes!) on a piece of fingerpaint paper. Supply the
kids with light green fingerpaint and let them use their thumbs to fill
the page with "green grapes"!

Ice-Cube Painting
Half fill dixie cups with water the night before. When partially set, set a mini popsicle stick in the center of each cup. Freeze completely. Place yellow and blue dry tempera paint on paper and have children paint with the icecubes. As the icecubes melt, they will create a neat watercolour picture.

Recipes & Food Ideas
Fun with "Green" Food: cucumbers (skins on), green jello, lettuce, green apples, fried green tomatoes, ranch (or other) dressing (tinted green with food coloring), kiwi, broccoli, green grapes, asparagus, celery, string beans, peas, lime sherbet, avocado, spinach, chinese peapods, green peppers, egg salad sandwich filling (tinted green with food coloring), popcorn (tint melted butter with green food coloring before drizzling - then let the kids mix well), green onions, parsley, cabbage, limes, honeydew melon, green pasta shapes (avail at local grocers), green olives, pickles, green relish, brussel sprouts, pistachios, pistachios pudding, green jelly beans,
Pistachio Salad
1 (4 serving size) pkg. pistachio instant pudding
mix
1 3/4 cups milk
14 oz. can crushed pineapple, drained
2 cups mini marshmallows
1/2 cup chopped nuts or coconut (optional - careful
of allergies)
1 cup whipped cream
Mix pudding powder with milk in medium bowl. Add well drained pineapple, marshmallows and nuts. Whip cream until stiffened. Fold into pudding mixture. Chill and serve.
Green Eggs & Ham (Read the book by Dr. Seuss to accompany this meal!)
1-2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
4 slices of ham
8 eggs
2 tablespoons of milk
1-2 drops of green food coloring
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
Melt a teaspoon of butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add sliced ham and brown until edges are slightly crisp. Remove the ham from the pan, cover with aluminum foil, and set aside. In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Beat with a whisk until frothy. Then add 1-2 drops of green food coloring until you reach the desired shade of green. Heat a tablespoon of butter or margarine in a large frying pan over medium heat until the butter begins to sizzle. Then add the egg mixture to the pan. Stir the egg mixture with a spatula until the eggs are firm and not too runny. Transfer the eggs to individual plates. Garnish with a sprig of parsley. Add the ham prepared earlier. Serve with toast or warm rolls. Serves 4.
Lime Jello Vegetable Salad
1 170g. pkg. lime jello
1 cup hot water
1 500g cottage cheese
1 grated carrot
1/2 diced green pepper
1 stalk diced celery
1 cup milk
1 cup mayonnaise type dressing
1/4 teaspoon salt
Dissolve jelly powder in hot water and chill until syrupy. Add cottage cheese, vegies and milk. Fold in mayonnaise; add salt. Pour into mold or individual bowls. Chill until set 2 - 3 hours.
Fruit Pizza
Crust:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 cup margarine/butter
Mix ingredients together. Press into bottom of pizza pan. Bake at 350oF for 15 minutes. Cool.
Topping:
12 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Beat all together. Spread over crust. The kids can top with "green" fruit pieces - green grape halves, kiwi slices, honeydew wedges(thin). Slice and serve.
**Individual pizzas can be made for each child if desired. Divide dough and the kids can press into small foil pie plates.
Green Slime
1 yogurt--(plain) (32 oz.)
1 can pinapple with juice--(20oz)
1 box instant pistachio pudding (3oz)
Mix all ingredients until well blended, but not in blender. Refrigerate
in individual bowls or dishes until set.
