Prop Box Idea for the Letter Gg = Gardening
Fill the prop box with items for tending to a garden. Add plastic flowers, gardening tools, watering can, plastic plant pots, gardening gloves, sunhats, sunglasses, and aprons.

Make a Display Box for "Gg"
Decorate a box with the letter "Gg" theme. Inside the box place items (or pictures of items) whose names begin with Gg. Some ideas below:

Recognizing the Letter "Gg"
Introduce the letter "Gg" to the children by showing them the printed lower and upper case G g Have letter Gg's hidden in the room and let the children find them. Sound out the letter Gg and words that begin with the letter.

Giraffe
Cut out a large giraffe shape from brown kraft paper and have the children glue on the spots.

Glue
Add foodcolouring to white glue and have children drizzle onto paper for a glue picture.

Garden
Have children create flowers and display a beautiful garden on your bulletin board.

Green
Fingerpaint with the colour green. Set up green collage materials for gluing.

Grey
Create grey using black and white paint and fingerpaint a grey picture.

Glasses
Cut out glasses from bristle board and let children decorate them.

Graph
Do polls in the group and graph the results. Some to do... graph number of boys and girls in the group, graph children with long and short hair, graph favourite cereal/candy/cookies/etc. Purchase different kinds of grapes - have children taste test and choose their favourite type and graph the results.

Recipes

Granola Bars
1 cup butter
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups flour
2 cups quick oats
1/4 cup peanut butter
2 tsp cinnamon
chocolate chips (optional)

Melt butter on stove or in microwave. Add sugars, baking powder, baking soda, flour, oats, and cinnamon. Mix well. Add peanut butter. Press onto a cookie sheet (you may want to line with foil). Bake at 325 for 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle on chocolate chips. Wait til they start to melt and then spread evenly over the top.
