Snow People Ornament
I made this one as a small child and still have it. You need a small pine cone, thread, a pop sicle stick, a cotton ball, tiny googly eyes, felt and a marker.
Glue the googly eyes to the cottonball and draw a nose and mouth with marker. Glue that as the head on the pine cone. If you like you can get spray snow to spray the pine cone. Cut a small triangle hat from the felt and glue it ontop. Cut the popsicle stick in half and glue one on each side of the bottom of the pine cone for feet. On the bottom you can put name and date. Thread a small pice of thread through top of hat so you can hang your ormament on the tree.

Glass Ball Photo Ornament
3 inch styrofoam ball Dozens of little roses, about 3/8 inch, they come in a small bunch of a dozen with stems, you can get them at Walmart. All the same color. You can use some smaller ones along with this size but I found this size looks best on this size ball. White glue Long piece of ribbon
Cut all the stems just below the wrapping at the base of the rose. With a sharp object like a pair of embroidery sissors, large crewel needle, etc. (toothpicks don't work they break too easily) Stab a hole into the ball, then dip the end of a rose into the glue and insert into the hole. Continue doing this placing the roses close together until the entire ball is covered. Let dry.
With a long object, a crochet hook works good, push the ribbon through the ball making a loop on one end and tie a knot in the other two ends and bury them inside the ball. I forced some glue down into the hole where the ribbon goes in to keep it from pulling out too easily.
These balls are gorgeous. I can't figure out which color I like best.

Star Ornament (or Tree Topper)
Cut a toilet paper tube in 1/4-1/2 inch slits all the way around on both ends leaving about an inch of the middle uncut. Fold the strips outward to form a star shape. Spray with gold or silver paint and sprinkle with glitter. Hang on tree or fix it to the top of the tree for the star. These are a little difficult for the kids to cut, but I have found they don't really care if you are doing it, if they are sitting there and it's theirs they think they made the whole thing.

Personalized Ornament
I've been making these balls for years. Take a boughten ball ornament and write the childs name on it with glitter paint. On the back of the ball write the year. I used to use glue and glitter and that does work but you have to be careful not to get too much glue, tacky glue is better. Sprinkle with glitter. Let dry. Some of my kids have 10 years of these ornaments. I used to get some that were wound with this thread type stuff. Last year I found a whole bunch of plastic balls that have kind of a frosted look. These look neat. Let the kid pick out their own color if you have a variety.
