1. We will have classes this Friday (9/19/03).
Chinese Language Classes:  6:30 pm - 8:20 pm
Culture Classes:           8:30 pm - 9:20 pm

2. Last day of school registration.

9/19/03 will be the last day of our school registration for returning students, $10 late fee will be charged after 9/19/03.

3. New School Administration Team

All new school administration team members were approved by our parents at parents' meeting on Friday 9/12/03. 

The following are the new pricipals and their reponsibilities:

Bai, Jiamin - Public Relations
Chen, Xiaoming - Chinese Education
Li, Jia - School Activities
Liu, Fang - School Principal
Xu, Liang - School Operations
Yue, Junping - Accounts Receivable
Zeng, Xiandi - Culture Education
Zhang, Jing - Accounts Payable

The current team and new team are going to finish school operation transition on Friday 9/19/03.

4. Elimination of Parents on Duty

Our school will hire some high school students to do our Parents on Duty job starting from 9/19/03.  This decision was made based on the parent survey conducted at 9/12 parents' meeting, most parents supported this idea to eliminate the parents on duty.

5.  Teaching Evaluation

Welcome to the classroom for teaching evaluation. Please pickup an evaluation form at the On Duty desk before you go to classrooms. Return the form to the on duty principals after classes.  Each family is required to listen to your child's Chinese class once every semester.  Concerns and suggestions can also be addressed to on duty principals or Chen, Xiaoming who is in charge of Chinese language classes.

Please comply with the following rules in the classroom:

     a.  Please sign your name at the On Duty desk before you go to the classroom. 
     b.  The only time you can go to the class is 6:30pm and 7:30pm.
     c.  No food and drink are allowed in the classroom.
     d.  Please don't read newspaper in the classroom.
     e.  Please sit at the last row of the seat in the classroom
     f.   Please don't talk to your child during the class.
     g.  If you would like to sit in the classroom more than two times per semester, please get approval from the classroom teacher and school principal. 

6.   Most classes will have parents meeting this Friday. Please check with your child's teacher and bring your suggestions.

7.   The 6th Chinese Contest has been rescheduled for Nov. 8, 2003. We are in the process to confirm previous registrations and add in new registrations. Please come to the parents on duty desk this Friday to review the school registration summary. You need to check and confirm/correct your child's information. It is especially important to look for the grade. You child may be misplaced if this box is filled wrong.

8.  1st Grade classroom has about 30 students this semester. Parent volunteers are needed as teacher's assistant. Please sign yourself up with teacher Lin Hong this Friday. Your help is really appreciated.

9. Principals on duty this week:
Zeng, Xiandi & Liu, Fang

There will be a On-duty notebook at on-duty desk for parents, teachers and on-duty principals.  You can write a note to teachers or principals.   

10.  Parent Survey

Please pick up the parent survey form at front desk, fill out the form and return it to on duty principals if your family member didn't fill out the survey form at the parent meeting last week. 

11.  Teaching objective:

The Chinese language teachers and the principlas met on Sep.12 discussing teaching objectives. Here are the highlights for your reference.

    a.  Focus classroom instruction on the textbooks to assure the students have learned what they are supposed to learn. Extra materials should be designed helping to learn the basic contents.

    b.  Maximum the efficiency of classroom instruction. Photos, games and other Chinese culture related items should be introduced to classrooms as part of our teaching practice.

    c.  Assign proper homework to reinforce reading, writing and understanding what the students have learned in classroom. Overloaded homework is not recommended.

12. Class schedule for rest of this semester:

9/19/03, 9/26/03.
10/3/03, 10/10/03, 10/31/03.
11/7/03, 11/14/03, 11/21/03.
12/12/03, 12/19/03.
01/09/04, 01/23/04, 01/30/04.

13. School disciplines
    a) Arrive at school on time. Late arrival will disturb teacher's instruction and subtract other students' attention. Students with perfect attendance record will be rewarded.
    b) Students should not touch/move anything
belonging to the classroom.
    c) No people stand on hallways during class time
    d) No one is allowed to go up 2nd floor
    e) Parents are not allowed to sit in classrooms during the class time except for teaching evaluation.
