The GameBoy Remixs By Mercury The One Locked In The Pokeball sachav@umich.edu This article is about the GameBoy and the steps that it has so far made and what I needs to do from now. The GameBoy started out in America in 1989 and grew immensly in popularity. Before that time a portable game machine that had nice long, extremely playable games was unheard of except for a computer laptop (Though at that time good laptops that could play games would cost a fortune). Then later after the release of the original GameBoy was released the guys at Nintendo and other game companys started to roll of many many new games for the increasingly popular system. And even later after that in 1990 many GameBoy hybrids were released. The best known one was probably the sega GameGear. Even though there were so many others they could not compare to the GameBoy except for the GameGear. There are so many that were so horrible I probably couldn't name a quarter of the total of systems! GameGear really did give GameBoy a run for it's money with the not that blurry color screen. But just because of shear number of games and popularity the GameGear went under in 2 years. By 1995 the GameBoy was starting to be considered old technology with more color screened portables being pumped out. And the arival of powerfull and high resolution TV hooked systems coming out like the 32X and sega CD. So the amount of systems sold started to slowly decrease as gamers went to buy the TV hooked systems that were really making waves in the sea. So the great Nintendo minds decided to remake the original GameBoy with some original complaints and suggestions from the original respondants to the release of the original GameBoy. And with all the new Technology coming out they were able to make this new proto-type GameBoy smaller, lighter, clearer screen, better battery life, faster processor, and better LCD. They decided to call this the GameBoy 'Pocket' because of it's incredibly small size. This new GameBoy's popularity was so great the charts broke a whole in the atmosphere. But yet again later, in 1997, even more powerfull systems like the Playstation, Nintendo 64, Playstation 2 and Nintendo 64DD started to appear. Gamers decided to get more demanding and greedy for 3D graphics and huge games pushing the fabulous new GameBoy 'Pocket' about 2 years after release into the shadows. But now it is 1998 and Pokemon has hit America. The Pokemon fad sweeps the world and the popularity of the GameBoy soars up once again! Though in the time being while the GameBoy popularity was going down Nintendo decided to try their luck at a new market! A new technology! Color liquid crystal screens! The new GameBoyColor as it was called was to be incredible having double the speed , an even sharper display, yet a little smaller display, and in color with the ability to play the old games in color! This was a wonderfull prospect and it was soon an increble craze along with Pokemon and other wonderful games in Japan. Recently that same little beauty was released here in America and GameBoy fans have been sucking the beautifully sharp color displays with joy. Yet it is only a little while after the release of the GameBoyColor in America and there are some people who already think that Nintendo must start to plan for the next GameBoy they are to produce. This next GameBoy must be a revolution to keep up with the market. Recently we have gotten the technology to build incredibly small yet incredibly advanced electronics. With microproccessors pushing the limits with size being less then a cm with almost 100mhz. In the past this would have been unheard of and you would have been branded as an crazy dreamer. With these types of incredible technologies at the disposal of video game manufacturers the next GameBoy could possibly be powerful enough to do dazzling graphics and sound, and of course the thing that has made GameBoy so incredibly successfull: The best games ever created, like Wario, legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Pokemon. That is only to mention a few great games. I would like to organize as much help as possible to research what could be done with the same size as the GameBoy Pocket and even a bit larger for the next game boy and what it would use as a proccessor and other equipment. So please send me your new ideas for the next GameBoy not thinking with limits and what you would like it to be. This way GameBoy fans may be able to have their very own ideas coming out on a future GameBoy system. Please send in things like screen size, layout of the items. Layout out of items would be: If the screen were to expand the whole game boy 3" X 5" to have it fold up like a pocket organizer allowing for a much larger screen with a much more compact case. Should more buttons and/or should something be added to the directional controls? These are all idea's for design that should be considered for the next GameBoy. But every one thinking together is sure to make the next GameBoy an incredible winner. Please if you have any suggestions or would like to help out please E-mail me your idea at:sachav@umich.edu THANK YOU NINTENDO GAMEBOY!
