G Am C D Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh G Am C D Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh G Am The Lord is my light, and my salvation C D Whom shall I fear, Whom shall I fear G Am The Lord is the stronghold of my life C D Whom shall I fear, Whom shall I fear I finally figured out how Darrell is playing the verse chords. they are not usual bar chords. Bare with me as I try to explain it, but this sounds exactly like the Album version. the G is played as follows: index finger on bottom string on fifth fret. This note will not be played on the G note but position is important when changing to D note. Middle finger is played on bottom string on the Seventh fret. And Ring finger is played on Second string from bottom on the Eighth fret. Strumming just the bottom two or three strings to make the G chord. (This is also the same as playing a D chord with a capo on fifth fret). the D chord: Going from G chord to D chord, you just remove your middle finger from the seventh fret, bottom string, and keep playing the bottom strings. This is why your index finger was holding the string on the Fifth fret during the G chord, it serves as a capo on just the bottom string. the C chord: Going from D chord to C chord, place Pinky finger on bottom string on the Eighth Fret. Then go back to C chord and that is the course of Chords during verse. By doing it this way, and not with a capo, it allows you to play the high octive chords during the verse and go back to the open chords during the bridge and Chorus and this, my friends, is probably as close to how Darrell Evans plays this song as we are ever going to get!!!!! donald clark (casey@rowesurveying.com)
