A defunct cemetery is a cemetery that was originally at one geographic location and had a name, and then at some time in the past, the cemetery ceased operations, the land was re-zoned, or the cemetery was merged with another. The burials, and usually the gravestones, were removed to a different cemetery (symbol= ► below). In the case of cemetery mergers in which bodies were not removed, an "aka" (i.e., "Also Known As") name is provided in the cemetery description. In some cases, a defunct cemetery was removed to a specific lot or section that is shown and noted on our maps.

Private cemeteries are included in the list below, however, these cemeteries are not open to the public and therefore are not mapped. All maps are indicated below by bold font.
