W h a t ' s N e w ?
Guess what! I am working as a relief teacher in a primary school. I am also the form teacher for a bunch of 11 year-old kids!
Teaching is really difficult now. Comparing to the time when I was in primary school and the primary school now, it is really Heaven and Hell for the teachers. Teachers used to be able to punish us or hit us when we were naughty. Our parents respected our teachers a lot. If we were being complained by our teachers, gosh! we would tremble at the thought of going home. Our parents would definitely be waiting at the door with a cane or with an 'acid' mouth. Then, we feared and respected our teachers. We listened and studied hard.
Teaching is so
different now. Parents no longer give that much respect to the teachers. When
teachers complain, they would try to reason with the teachers. To them, their
children are 'angels'. Pupils are screaming at teachers when they are
reprimanded for bad behaviors. Pupils back-stabbing teachers in front of their
parents are common sights. Teachers are told not to punish pupils. Teachers can
only scold them 'politely'. The pupils know their privileges and they abuse
them.
