The Mae Mong Ho main church has already been completed, except for the doors, and had its first worship on Easter Sunday 23 April 2000. On that Sunday, Kin Seng, Jonathan and myself joined them for worship, having enjoyed ourselves thorougly with our journey there on foot. Jonathan shared at the main worship whereas Kin Seng shared with the Lisu class.
For the construction of the main church building, each family had contributed three days worth of volunteer labour, as an offering to the Lord. After the completion of the main church building, an additional meeting hall cum Sunday School classroom cum dining hall is planned, as well as the pastor's quarters. Do pray for the project as the rainy season is coming and we are getting regular afternoon showers now.
The male quarters of the FHL DRC has been completed, in time for the recent dedication of the main FHL building. It was timely as the original bamboo and thatched roof building was finally falling apart. Breakthrough Mission, during their recent mission trip in Febuary, offered the sum for the construction of the building, after noting the depilitated conditions and we thank God for His provisions.
For want of a better term, the Liu Village is having a revival, if it can be guaged by the number of members attending bible school!
Lao Mei, from Mae Mong Ho, had just returned from a three month full-time course at a bible school conducted in Lisu. The course is conducted for three months every year, and the whole syllabus takes five years to complete.
Pastor Wang XingWu's wife is attending the Mae Sai Bethel Bible School as a sit-in student for a year... also joining her is Mao Xing, who will also attend the bible school as a sit-in student for a year. Mao Xing will actually become the fellow class-mate of his own eldest son, Yu Gui, who is beginning his four year full time couse at the Mae Sai Bible School this June.
Also attending bible school, Jin Xiu, who is our Dominic Chong's engaged wife to be. She will be pursuing a bachelor's degree at the Payao Bible College this year. The course will stretch over four years. (Does this mean our own Dominc Chong will also follow suit, just to keep up with her? ) :-)
Not forgetting, of course, our own missionary Richard Chan, who will attend the third and forth modules of his cross-cultural missiology couse at the Penang Baptist Theological Seminary from July to September together with his wife, as well as Mao Xing's brother Ming Xing. Ming Xing recently dedicated his life to serve the Lord during the revival rally conducted by Breakthrough Mission's Pastor Simon Neo.
So, that makes a total of eight (!) brothers and sisters attending bible school this year!
The Hui Jo Christian Church (ie Elder Cha's church at Mae Chan) will join the Twelve District ie the Chinese Baptist grouping of the Thailand's association of churches. Once the formailities are over, the Hui Jo Church will be a in the same denomination as the Liu Village Baptist Church. Maybe the Hui Jo church will be renamed as Hui Jo Baptist Church? :-)
