Brief History
Chris' Little Stop was founded in the summer of 1995. Prior to this date there was no hard ice-cream selling establishment in the Isaac's Harbour/Goldboro area. Known as the twin cities in the region, the residents of Isaac's Harbour and Goldboro graciously accepted and appreciated their newly founded business venture. Chris' Little Stop was inspired by a $100 loan offered by Guysborough County Regional Development Authority's new youth entrepreneurship program, "I Want to be a Millionaire." The partnership between Chris' Little Stop and the "I Want to be a Millionaire" Program lasted until the year 2000 and the owner/operator, Christopher MacIsaac, served as a Youth Mentor during his last year of participation.
After a successful first season, Chris' Little Stop captialized on the growing ice cream selection offered by the Scotsburn Dairy group. With such recongizable flavours as Hoofprints, Udderly Divine, and Crocodile Crunch; Scotsburn is widely considered the leader in the local hard ice cream industry. Minor improvements were made during the "off-season" as Chris' Little Stop prepared to offer better selection and customer satisfaction.
Owner, Chris MacIsaac, then became involved in the "YES" Program offered through the Nova Scotia department of Economic Development and Tourism. After being involved in the program for two consectitive summers, Chris' Little Stop used funds gained through loans to construct a screened sitting area for his growing numbers of customers. Chris' Little Stop continued to see further growth and another freezer was acquired to increase ice cream capacity. Today Chris' Little Stop can store and sell up to and including 15 flavours of Scotsburn ice cream at any given time.
