" this is not new, this is old, we have been using this medicine for thousands of years" ... Bertha Treakle |
We make medicines using herbs that our Coast Salish ancestors have used for centuries.
" While my cousin and I were having a conversation 3 years ago, I came
up with the idea of bring
back the medicines that our people use. These are herbs that our people
haven't used in the last fifty years.
My cousin , a naturopathic doctor, taught my husband and I how to prepare
the herbs. We have been promoting our herbs for the last 3 years by going to different
pow-wows and conventions.
We now bring these products to you via the World Wide Web. My husband and I pick
and process our own herbs
Veratrum Virdi: common name (Indian Hellibore). This herb grows in very high altitudes where it is wet and swampy. Originally used by the Coast Salish for sore strained muscles and painful areas. Now we have developed this into a cream as an external rub to these areas. If applied to open wounds it could cause stinging.
Oplopanax Horridum: common name (DevilsClub). This herb is used in cases of inflamed and painful conditions of arthritis and rheumatism. Apply generously unto these inflamed areas as an external rub.
We make a half and half mix of the Devils Club and Indian Hellibore for people afflicted with both conditions. This mixture will combat both the pain and inflammation.
Arctium Lappa: common name (Burdock) Found in fields and open areas. This herb helps the conditions of eczema, rashes, and itching skin. Apply as an external rub until condition improves.
Stellaria Media: common name (Chickweed) for psoriasis of the skin. Also effective for all swellings, scabs, boils and burns. For broken and unbroken skin conditions. Use as an external rub until condition improves.
