Pickett's Charge -
The Retreat and Aftermath
In a fighting withdrawl, the Confederate banners turn back towards their line. Pickett's Charge has ended.
The dead and wounded litter the fields that only weeks earlier were just another farm in an unknown town.
Advancing slightly to solidify their position, the valiant men of Hancock's II Corps pause to reload.
With the fighting over, men begin to tend to the wounded.
The true cost of the war is all too clear as broken men from both sides cover the battlefield.
