    TEAM LEAD
Adapting BACG Order Processing System DCS2000 3.3 to U.G. needs. Also preparing for future integration with DCS3000 Client Server Environment. A three phase project.

Project Lead on Phase 3 of this project. My task involved the analysis of an existing order processing system. Extensive analysis of workflows and interviews with warehouse and office groups. In this effort I was preparing work for the third phase of a three phase project and directed two individuals in a basic effort of analysis. My deliverables, which were completed on schedule, dealt with adaptation of pricing, inventory mechanisms etc. in the new system. This involved presenting findings to senior management.

The first phase was the actual integration and conversion of the system, involving converting the package's VSAM file access to Datacom. For this I analyzed and wrote the database drivers to assist the other team. The second phase was a re-engineering of the item number. I was not involved in Phase 2 - as it was mostly a team of one analyst Phase 1 was being directed by another individual - a team of about six who were mostly busy adapting programs to use the drivers and modifying JCL.

I was offered the lead position in Phase 3 efforts because I had extensive knowledge of Order Processing systems and could, and did, address these challenges.

 Dear Recruiters,
I am an experienced project manager and consultant of some twenty years of experience, well versed in DB2, CICS and IMS. Over the past three years I have made study of the Year 2000 transformation effort the key focus of my work and interests. I am cruuently a Y2K Project Manager working with a well known teaching hospital in Oregon. I focusing now on practical work with SAP which I am studying now. My universal experiences are proving a complete dovetail with this study.

In 1998 I guided a major financial corporation in completing its mainframe remediation and are now well underway its desktop compliance program. I was responsible for creation of their initial impact assessment. Our applications team generated our own impact analysis using manual means and produced our own recommendations - an effort of just six weeks - and a savings of a half-million dollars from using a large consulting company. While we we doing the impact analysis we continued a parallel manual effort remediation of our largest core system - which is about one third of our mainframe code. We have now completed our coding phase and our unit testing for all our mainframe systems, and are now in system and integration test phases.

Simultaneously we also began the repair of our client server systems and are now more than fifty percent complete with their remediation. These systems are in C, Powerbuilder and Visual Basic. I am now completing the proposed mechanism for the remediation of the business user's desktop environment, dealing with shrink-wrapped software and user-created artefacts such as Excel spreadsheets and Access databases.

I was responsible for delivering the first Y2K compliant pilot for a major clothing manufacturer and was their applications Y2K planner. I have made an extensive study of the available toolsets and am experienced with many ways of dealing with the transformation - from manual repair to automated repair. I created a strong methodology for use in the future Y2K testing effort at a major West-Coast based bank. I was invited to teach Y2K skills to the MBA class of the University of San Francisco - by my boss at the clothing corporation (Professor R. Velez). I started my interest in Year 2000 in Oregon, where I managed a group of team leaders. I created the initial impact assessment for an Oregon health insurance provider.

My industry range is extensive. I have many years invested in the design and programming of on-line order processing systems, manufacturing systems and financial systems. I can bring a wide view to a project - and also no end of common sense. I make the user happy by being a good listener as well as implementing a project with careful attention to everybody's needs. I am available to travel anywhere, anytime that is required. In fact I enjoy doing so. If possible, please provide me with a two week notice period before any in-person interview. I am a US and a British Citizen. Thankyou for your attention.

Sincerely Yours,

Colin Brown
