"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12).
By we admitting that we are sinful, believing in Jesus, and by receiving Him, we are saying we will follow Christ. That is what being a Christian means. God's love has to do with sacrifice -even to the undeserving. Yes,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Notice again that we are to
follow His steps-even in dying for others: Greater love hath no man than
this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13). The Christ
who spoke these words literally fulfilled them!
