Putnam Co.,Ohio-St.Joseph's Catholic Church

Our family is not certain when the senior Owen Moran brought his nearly grown family to America from Ireland.Owen had 5 grown children and wife that travled to America,as well probably  3-7 grandchildren from *John Moran,my ancestor.

My brother David and I  believe our Irish Ancestors were able to somehow survive the tough times in Irleand a little longer than most. They may possibly of had some money, and maybe modest finances to travel with such a large group.
We feel they arrived somwhere in the 1850-1855 time frame. At this point I am assuming they arrived thru the New York Area too,but just maybe they came down thru the Canadian areas, and came straight into the Midwest area of Ohio following the waterways.

I have read some inforamtion about a couple other people from the surname of MORAN in the Ohio area during the same time frame, I believe my family was sponsered by the St.Joseph's Catholic Church located in Putnam Co.Ohio.

When I do record searches for MORANS in America, their is a smaller amount of that surname in the Midwest during the 1850-1865 time frame.Their are a few in Iowa, and Illinios, but ost of the MORANS are in OHIO,I beleive somehow fit together. All other MORANS live in the Boston,Ma or New York area, and probably arrived when the Great Potato famine started.
