Descendants of Arti (Mullins) & Joseph Briant
54. Arti Mullins b. ca 1795 Virginia. As far as is know, she never married, but lived with and had children by Joseph Briant. There was a Joseph Briant in the 1820 Russell County, Virginia Census. In 1829, a subpoena was issued against Joseph Briant and Arti Mullins to appear at the next May term of Pike County, Kentucky court to show cause if any they could why their children should not be bound out. In the August term of court in 1829, Arti Mullins "by her attorney ordered that the summons awarded herein against said Arti Mullins do not issue by reason of the defendant being no resident of Pike County." Joseph and Arti are believed to have had the following children:

269. ii. Polly Mullins b. ca 1829 KY md John Mullins 12 March 1846 Pike County, Kentucky
270. iii. John A. Mullins b. ca 1814 VA - d. ca 1890 KY md Ava Bryant 20 March 1854 Letcher Co.
