  </FONT> Pikeville is located on U.S. 23 in Pike County, Kentucky.  Listed as one of the top 20 small towns in America, Pikeville is proud of its unique heritage and natural beauty and strives to preserve them both while attempting to promote tourism in the Big Sandy region.  </div> <div>      <FONT SIZE="2" COLOR="#0000BF" FACE="Times New Roman" >Pike County, originally part of the immense area that was encompassed by old Floyd County, Kentucky, was formed in 1822 and the county seat was established in 1824 and called Piketon after Colonel Zebulon M. Pike.  The name was later changed to Pikeville.
