After gestating inside a living human host the creature punctures its way out of the "hosts" body usually killing the subject. Hence the nickname "Chestburster" The alien creature appears to pic up some genetic characteristics form its host...After birth, the Chestburster will either feed on the remains of the host or seek shelter if threatened.
