Eclipse

Breezes rush through and around me
Huddled on the damp ground
Lit from the heavens by the eternal moon.
An ebony sliver of darkness crawls over his face,
Bleeding the light from the surface.
And I feel the weight of centuries pressing upon me
For, once covered, he glows blood-red from within
With a halo of fiery light,
Sending the primitive men stumbling to their gods.
