A site devoted to profiling the unkown, the forgotten, and the obscure of the Marvel Universe. All around a damn good site. Even better, Greg is one of the magnificent Masters of the Obscure so of course he'll be providing some profiles in his own inimitable fashion. One of the coolest Marvel-related sites on the web! If you are looking for a profile of Wolverine or Spider-Man this is NOT the place! Now if you want to find out about Vera Gemini and the Harvesters of Eyes, the Bird-Men of Akah-Ma'at, or maybe Jude the Entropic Man...
Aside from creating the 24 Hour Comic challenge, Scott McCloud wrote the innovative and in depth book Understanding Comics and is currently exploring the future of comics right here on the internet. His site is a good place to check out if you are low on inspiration or stuck in a creative rut. His story generator section is my favorite and has inspired me to create one of my own. Also there is some 24 hour comic material sent in by those who have answered the challenge for the curious to peruse through as well as a cool online comic section with a new panel every day called the Daily Improv. Cool stuff. Check it out.
If you can't get enough of the crawling alien horror that oozes down from the darkness between the stars (and let's face it, who can get enough of that stuff?) then check out the H.P. Lovecraft Library, a great site where you can read most of the Gentleman from Providence's works for free! Elder Gods, aliens dissecting humans like frogs in Science class, tales told by lunatics warning of cosmic madness, Lovecraft painted a Bosch-like picture of an uncaring universe filled with races far older than man and disinterested in our mundane human aesthetics and puling perceptions.
Wonder of nature? Mystery of the human mind? Secret code language of God? Decide for yourself after checking out this eye (and ear) opening site! David John Oates first stumbled onto the secret of reverse speech in Austrailia while researching why he stuttered. Now he's hit America and the big time! Laughed at by some and lauded by others a visit to this site is worth doing at least once. For my own part I'll say this, when Bill and I were in a band together with some friends we made similar discoveries while screwing around with an eight track recorder. Warning: if you are given to paranoid fantasies and conspiracy theories this site will just make it worse.
If you enjoy using the powers of darkness to harass and annoy your friends (and who doesn't?) then go check out Pinstruck, a unique and free service that allows you to anonymously send Voo Doo curses to loved ones and enemies alike! Once you're done venting your animus on an unsuspecting coworker go and check out their email section with plenty of pissed off responses from irate curse recipients.
Handy little device I got turned onto by someone over at the Savage Forum. Maybe you've got a super-heroic role playing session coming up and you're too lazy to draw your own character. Maybe you want to write comic books and just can't think of what your hero or heroine should look like. Hell, maybe you're just bored! The Hero Machine can help solve your dilema and quick! Go check it out. I like hitting random and seeing what goofy looking mutant freak it spits out at me.
Site I recently happened across while looking for other superhero and sword and sorcery comics online. An impressive catalogue of stuff. Going to be submitting various links to C3 comics to them for inclusion on their site. Anyone else with comics online might want to do the same. Check em out!
