Touma says: "Jun's like the little brother I never had. Sometimes he can be like the little brother I never wanted, but that's a topic for another day. He may be a bit annoying some of the time, but the deep down, Jun's a great kid. He's got a big heart and an optimistic outlook, always doing whatever he can to help out and willing to think the best of everybody. He's gone through some pretty heavy tragedies, for such a little guy -his parents disappeared right in front of his eyes when Arago attacked, and we've never seen them since- but he never lets that get him down. Even if he doesn't have any armour, Jun definitely has the soul of a Samurai Trooper; he's always looking out for other people, and he won't back down from any fight. Seriously; this kid has stood his ground in the face of Masho and Demon Lords alike without even flinching! About the only problem I've got with Jun is that sometimes he can be a little too energetic and high-spirited..."

Jun is like the "kid brother" of the Samurai Troopers - they like him, but occasionally his youthful exuberance rubs them the wrong way. He may have seemed a bit hyperactive at times, but then again, he was only eight years old. In fact, there were times when Jun acted incredibly mature for his age. Jun is brave almost to the point of stupidity; he idolizes the Troopers to the point where he tries to emulate them, despite his own lack of training or power. In later years, he has matured and lost a bit of his childish energy. At the age of 11 or 12, he became champion of a kendo tournament, suggesting he has become a fairly good swordsman in his own right.

Jun Yamano's japanese voice actor, or seiyuu, was Kumiko Watanabe. Kumiko is also known for her roles in other popular anime, such as Rashel in Babel II, Tooru in Borgman, Beat in Gundam ZZ, Jody in Tekkaman Blade, Junjun in Sailor Moon Supers, and Katerina Loose in V Gundam.

In the Ronin Warriors dub, "Yulie" is voiced by Chris Turner. Chris has also performed as Masato in Mermaid's Scar, Rin Kobayashi in Please Save My Earth, and Tony in Fatal Fury 2.
