"Okay, it's my turn, now! I'm Usagi Tuskino,
the one and only Sailor Moon! Naturally, I'm the smartest, prettiest, strongest, and all-around
coolest Sailor Senshi ever, with my stunning good looks and amazing grace... Uh, okay, so maybe
I'm not all that graceful. Truth is, I'm a bit of a clutz, and sometimes I trip over my own two feet,
but I really am trying hard to be good at this whole super-hero thing, so gimme a break! I
mean, okay, so I get a little scared sometimes! I don't care what Rei says, I am not a crybaby!
And just because sometimes I'm a little slow to get to work doesn't mean I'm lazy, either! Some
of us have better things to do, that's all! I mean, it's not my fault that all those
video games are so addictive! Besides, I'm a good friend, and really nice and generous to practically
everybody! Not to mention that whenever evil shows up, I'm always there to help people in need!
No matter where, no matter when, if somebody's in trouble, they can count on me to save them! Doesn't
that count for something? So I'm not perfect! I do the best I can! Honestly, you people are so
picky!"

When transformed into Sailor Moon, Usagi has
access to a number of magical attacks, capable of healing, exorcising evil spirits, and deflecting dark
magic. In addition to her magical powers, Sailor Moon has a number of weapons,
including the Moon Stick (Crescent Moon Wand), Cutie Moon Rod (Moon Sceptre), Moon Spiral
Heart Rod, Moon Kaleidoscope, and the Eternal Tier. She also has a Disguise
Pen, which can be used to change her appearance into that of anything she wishes, and Moon Tiara,
which she can use to attack her enemies.

Usagi Tsukino is the Sailor Senshi of the Moon. Several goddesses
have been associated with the Moon in Roman mythology, including Diana, Luna, Artemis, and Selene/Serenity. Although
she currently leads the Sailor Senshi, it is interesting to note that "Sailor Moon" did not exist during the Moon
Kingdom. In fact, "Sailor Moon" is not a Sailor Senshi at all. There was no Senshi of the Moon in the
past - the Inner Senshi were the guardians of the Moon Princess Serenity, who Usagi was in a former life.

Usagi Tsukino has had two japanese voice actors, or seiyuu.
First, was Kotono Mitsuishi. Misuishi is also known for her roles in other popular anime, such as Pixy in
Monster Rancher, Rabby in Gall Force - The Revolution, Mink in Dragon Half, Yuka Takeuchi
in Variable Geo, Juri Arisugawa in Revolutionary Girl Utena, Birdy in Birdy The Mighty,
and Misato Katsuragi in Neon Genesis Evangelion. |
| Then, for a brief period of time, Kae Araki was given the character. After Mitsuishi was returned
to the role, Araki went on to perform as Chibi-Usa / Sailor Chibi-Moon. Araki
also performed roles in other anime, such as Hikari Yagami in Digimon and Digimon 02, Miaka Yuuki in
Fushigi Yuugi, Peggy Lee in V Gundam, Cas in G Gundam, Simonne in Gundam 0083 - War In
The Pocket, and Minnie May Hopkins in Gun Smith Cats.

In the Sailor Moon dub, "Sarena" has been voiced by several
different women, as well. First was Tracey Moore, who voiced "Sarena" for part of the Sailor Moon season. Tracey has also
performed as Princess Toadstool in The Adventures Of Super Mario Bros 3. |
For most of the first season, and all of the Sailor Moon R season, the role was performed by
Terri Hawkes. Terri has also performed in such roles as Impostra in Power Rangers - Lost Galaxy, Bianca Dupree and Blaze
Summers in Beverly Hills Teens, and as Baby Hugs and Shrieky in The Care Bears. |
For Sailor Moon S, the role of "Sarena" went to Linda Ballantyne. Previously, Linda performed as
Janet Van Dyne / The Wasp in The Avengers. |
