This is my woodworking page. I am into the old-style woodworking. You will NOT find any power tools, machinery, or any other norm-related stuff. To Navigate, click on the buttons on the left. Enjoy!

How to square up a board

How to square up a board with only hand tools. All you really need is a piece of wood and a No. 5 jack plane. I am going to use a Stanley No.8, A LN-Standard Angle Block plane, and a Square.

First, I put the wood in the vice.                                     Then, I level the edge with the No. 8. What Fun!

Now I check to see if the edge is square. It is!                Flip the wood around, and lets plane the other side.

Keep planing the other side.                                       I have flipped the wood onto its face, and now I am planing that.

After I flipped the board over and planed the other side, I check to see if it is square. It is!

All done! We have a square board.
