Jake opened her eyes, after a mere three hours of sleep. It was nine
am. She hadnt fallen asleep until 6:02 am. Then, the memories came
flooding back.
"Oh my god. It can't be true, can it?" She didn't even bother
dressing, didn't plan on going anywhere until she got to the bottom
of this.
However, her stomach had other plans. With that, she went into the
kitchen for a bowl of cereal. After washing up, she dialed his number
again.
"Hello?"
"Hamilton Fleming. What the hell happened? Didn't you get my email?
My call?" Jake sounded worried, and angry, and hurt.
"I didn't read it. It was late. I was tired."
"Wait, wait, wait. You were tired? You're usually not tired unless...
And how come Lena got off and you got on? And who answered the phone?
Whoa whoa whoa. What the fuck Hamilton!"
The voice at the other end sighed, "Let me explain Jake."
"No you cant. You know what? I'm coming over right now. See you in
five hours or so. And then we'll see what you'll have to say," she
sounded very angry now. But because she was. Then she hung up.
All her guy clothes were at Rawley, except for the jeans she'd worn
home. Quickly packing a knapsack, she sent a voicemail to her mother.
"Hey Mom. I'm leaving for Rawley today, so if you want to contact me,
I'll be there unless I call again."
Hopping on her bike, she sped up the freeway.

Arriving in New Rawley, she stopped at the garage first.
"Hey Bella."
"Jake! You're back early."
"Yeah, I'm having another problem with Hamilton. I think, oh well,
I'll tell you later."

Arriving on campus, she rushed over the Fleming's house and saw
Hamilton waiting for her on the porch.
"What happened?" she demanded as soon as she arrived in earshot of
him.
"I'm sorry. its a long story. Would you like to go inside?"
Jake looked at him.
"Come in," he said. He had never seen her so angry.
Inside, "Well, I'm waiting."
"I was bored. It was after you called. I was lonely. I remembered
Lena. My mom told me her dorm number. I went to visit her. We came
back here. But, but I didn't think..."
"Right, you didn't think. You never think."
"I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt you I still love you."
"Does she know?"
"Know? Ohh... no."
"Okay, I guess this was your choice. And this is it. Since there are
still six days until fall session starts, I can withdraw now. Go
somewhere else. The only reason I was staying for fall session was
for you. Now that I've lost you, I am free to go."
"Go?" he said blankly
"Yes go. I will ship off my stuff. I'll just take my name off your
rosters and go. You can do whatever with my real identity after I
leave. Goodbye Hamilton Fleming."
She walked out and Hamilton couldn't even work up the strength to
follow her. He still loved her, he really did, But he himself, he
knew, had ruined it.
He whispered to the air, "Goodbye Jake."
