Introduction

The emerging architectural framework for intension mining demands for a powerful knowledge discovery schema language, which should be rich enough to capture all the user requirements along with the focusing information. This motivated us to design a comprehensive knowledge discovery schema language(KDSL), for accumulating different kinds of knowledge.

We examined, first of all, what should be the primitives of the knowledge discovery schema language. The current data mining R & D activities show that data mining covers a wide spectrum of tasks, from data clustering to mining association rules or data classification. This makes the design of a comprehensive knowledge discovery schema language a challenging task[19].

Now, we examine the general philosophies which influence the design of such a schema language and present step­by­step a tentatively designed Knowledge Discovery Schema Language, KDSL. The design is still not complete. It will evolve with time.
